Senior Network Engineer (Honolulu)
Manages the information technology group to plan, implement, maintain, and upgrade IT infrastructure to support corporate goals and to improve efficiency of business processes.
Duties:
- Manages the day-to-day operations and monitors the performance of IT team
- Hires, coaches, and evaluates IT team; facilitates development of individual performance plans, and career planning
- Develops and manages annual budget
- Oversees research, selection, purchase and inventory of computer, telecom, and other equipment
- Plans, manages and implements the company’s internal network, servers, and telecommunication systems – near and long term
- Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configuration for employees and customers
- Establishes, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company’s systems and quality assurance for disaster recovery
- Helps develop, plan, and implement the company’s overall strategic goals for Information Technology
- Supports project (contract) specific IT requirements; provides estimates of work hours and assigns IT team as required
Qualifications:
- 8+ years IT experience, including 4 years managing an IT team
- Minimum 5 years system administration background in:
- Microsoft Windows – Workstations / Servers
- Microsoft Exchange / Active Directory 2003
- Unix experience a plus (Linux, Solaris)
- Minimum 5 years network administration, planning and design experience
- Proven track record of leading and building an IT team
- Demonstrated experience with project planning and management
- Telecommunication experience a plus
- Microsoft and Cisco certifications a plus
Supports network operations & maintenance at U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. The objective is to provide sustainable information technology support to the Commander, US Pacific Command (USPACOM), and assigned staff.
Duties:
- Provides technical assistance, repair, or conducting comparison evaluations between existing USPACOM capabilities and potential alternatives
- Assists in general troubleshooting of the Network to ensure that all network outages are repaired within 24 hours over 96% of the time
- Provides detailed technical documentation on USPACOM hardware and software
- Assists in plan of action/milestones for developing new/complex applications and systems
- Provides supplemental technical assistance in hardware and software platforms as required and/or complex technical problems that are beyond the scope of organic USPACOM technical expertise
- Provides training to USPACOM staff in appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as requested; provides software consultation and analysis to government personnel as requested
- Provides white paper analysis of new technologies, standards, operational concerns, and specific recommendations regarding potential benefit to USPACOM; employee will study, monitor and plan for integration of emerging technologies
- Provides engineering support for exercise and contingency operations to ensure connectivity between the Joint Task Force Commander and PACOM
- Manages and administers a Windows NT/2000 network
- Plans and implements Disaster Recovery Procedures; implements deployment and security strategies
Qualifications:
- 2+ years working experience in:
- Interpreting DON, NMCI and/or PACOM IT policy, guidance, and directives
- Interpreting joint military service requirements, translating requirements into orderable NMCI contract line item submissions, and verifying accuracy/quality of delivered services
- Using Microsoft Office tools (such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook), preparing analytical reports, information papers, and briefings for executive level recipients
- 3+ years working experience in:
- Network administration, involving the management of Windows 2000/2003 server, Windows Active Directory, Global Command & Control System Software, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Mail Server; experience with NMCI network interface and system requirements
- Advising and negotiating with customers, interface with senior level customers (military and civilian), analysts, other vendor personnel, and IT staff regarding requirements and subsequent solutions
- Must be able to attain security clearance
